PIKEVILLE -- Elma Hare Edmundson died Tuesday. She was a native of Wayne County and daughter of the late Richard and Minnie Hare of the Stoney Creek community and the widow of James "Jim" C. Edmundson. Mrs. Edmundson was an active member of the Antioch Free Will Baptist Church, where she taught the young people's Sunday school class for 25 years; led the Youth Group; and was a choir member in her early years. Although in declining health, she was still very interested in the Women's Auxiliary, the church and community affairs.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Daughtry and the Rev. Dale Belvin officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Edmundson Cemetery on Highway 111 North.

Mrs. Edmundson is survived by her son, Dr. James C. Edmundson Jr. and daughter-in-law, Avis T. Edmundson of Wilmington; her grandchildren, Jimmy Edmundson and wife, Sandy Gail, of Winterville, Angela E. Riddick and husband, Ike, of Raleigh, and Michael Edmundson and wife, Tricia, of Raleigh; and her great-grandchildren, Mathew Riddick, Hunter Riddick, Cameron Riddick, Steven Douglas Edmundson, and Ashton Sophia Edmundson, all of Raleigh.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Antioch Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 1407 Antioch Road, Pikeville, N.C. 27863.

The family will receive friends following the service on Friday at Seymour Funeral Home Home.
