LENA S. BAKER

Died April 1, 2007

ASHEBORO -- Lena Mae Strider Baker, 48, 6875 Pisgah Covered Bridge Road, died Sunday at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Memorial service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Center Cross Baptist Church, 1789 Center Cross Church Road, Asheboro, with the Rev. Justus McKeel and the Rev. Thurman Williams officiating.

Mrs. Baker was a native of Asheboro, a 1977 graduate of Southwestern Randolph High School and a member of Center Cross Baptist Church.
She owned and operated Covered Bridge Pottery where she turned pottery for other potters. Lena was employed as a CNA with Universal Healthcare in Ramseur and Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro and formerly owned Lena Graphics, a commercial graphics business. Lena assisted with the Pisgah Covered Bridge restoration.

She is survived by her husband, James Baker of the home; daughter, Tracy D. Baker of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; sister, Betty S. Cross of Asheboro; brothers, Harold Strider of Asheboro, Lee Strider of Goldsboro, and Ray Strider of Matthews.

Family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
