ELIZABETH R. THOMAS

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Elizabeth Rouse Thomas, 95, of Scottsdale, passed away at Hospice of Arizona at Pueblo del Norte, in Scottsdale, Ariz. on March 23, 2007.

Mrs. Thomas was born in LaGrange, on April 1, 1911, to Mr. and Mrs. John H. Rouse.

She graduated from Duke University in 1932.

She married Everett Arnold Webb of Morehead City in 1932, and they had three children, Elizabeth Arnold Webb, Everett Arnold Webb Jr. and Eva Arnold Webb. Mrs. Thomas was predeceased by her husband in 1946, and by her daughter, Eva, in 1992.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Webb Armstrong of Alexandria, Va., and her son, E. Arnold Webb of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

In 1960, she married David A. Thomas (deceased 1998) of Philadelphia, Pa., and from that marriage she is survived by three stepdaughters, Patricia Anne Thomas Muir of Bethesda, Md., Linda Carla Thomas Anderson of Toledo, Ore., and Phyllis Elizabeth Thomas Seitts of Scottsdale, Ariz. She is also survived by a brother, Bob Rouse and wife, Jo, of LaGrange; along with 15 grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Since 1960 she has resided in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Previous residences include Old Greenwich, Conn., Morehead City, LaGrange and Myrtle Beach.

She was a cum laude graduate of Duke University, where she was the first female editor of the student newspaper and the yearbook, Chanticleer; an officer on the Pan Hellenic Council; and an officer in the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She was a member of the Colonial Dames, the DAR and the Children of the Confederacy.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2007, at 11 a.m. from Fairview Cemetery, with the Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Arizona, attn: Butterfly Unit, 7100 East Mescal St., Scottsdale, Ariz. 85254 who provided loving care in her final days. Arrangements are with Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
