Arnold Ginn Barwick, 86, of 1977 Old Grantham Road, died early Saturday at his home.

Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Roy Clyde and Bessie Brown Barwick.

He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church and a retired civil service employee with Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a sergeant in the Company D 327th Glider Infantry. He served during World War II, where he received the EAME Service Medal with two bronze service stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, Lola Casey Barwick; one son, Arnold Glenn Barwick of Goldsboro; two daughters, Brenda Carol Barwick of Goldsboro, Sylvia Barwick Hester of Morehead City; two grandchildren, A.G. Barwick and Stacie Barwick; and four great-grandchildren, April Smith, Allison Barwick, Jordan Barwick and Ashley Cole.

Family members will greet friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Fun-eral Home and at other times at the home.
