THELMA D. RHODES

Thelma Rhodes, age 79, of 111 Derek Dr., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 16, 2007. Mrs. Rhodes was born in Wayne County on January 30, 1938. She was a twin with the late Thurman Daniels and was the daughter of the late Willie B. and Margaret E. Daniels. In addition to her twin brother and parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Eva Roger Daniels, whom she loved dearly. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Cliffton Dail Rhodes at the age of 41, a son, Dennis Dale Rhodes at the age of 28, her brothers, Lester R. Daniels, Willie R. Daniels and sister, Blonnie Ruth Thomas. Mrs. Rhodes' home church was Whitley P.H. Church where she was a member of the Golden Chosen. She was employed at Carolina Welds (GE) Electric in Goldsboro for over 40 years before retiring. After her retirement, Mrs. Rhodes enjoyed getting out and being with her friends and loved ones, including meeting at Bojangles weekly with Gracie Lancaster, who was a special cousin, sister and dear friend. Mrs. Rhodes devoted her life to her family and was a beautiful, lovable lady and will be truly missed.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Whitley P.H. Church with the Rev. Ferrell Hardison and the Rev. Andy Stovall officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and son at Wayne Memorial Park on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Mrs. Rhodes leaves behind to cherish her memories, a son and daughter-in-law, Larry Dean and Betty Rhodes of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Tanya Jo Cokor and husband, Zeb, of Hampstead, and Dana Renee Russell and husband, Thomas, of Goldsboro; five great-grandchildren, Reese Elizabeth Hargrove, Ivey Jo Cokor, Kolby Dean Anderson, Logan Scott Person and Seth Lee Russell; three brothers, Earl Daniels of Raleigh, Harvey Daniels of Texas and James Daniels of Goldsboro; three sisters, Ethel House of Smithfield, Minnie Bell Strickland of Goldsboro and Margaret Pardon of Four Oaks; the daughter she never had, Evelyn Daniels of Goldsboro and a sister-in-law, Irva Daniels of Goldsboro.

The family will receive friends at the church at 6 p.m. on Friday evening and immediately following the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Evelyn Daniels, 167 Whitley Church Road, Goldsboro.

Flowers are welcome and memorial contributions may be directed to Larry and Betty Rhodes to help cover the costs of medical expenses, 110 Derek Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
