RUBY J. CRAWFORD

May 8, 1915-March 19, 2007

WINSTON-SALEM -- Ruby Lee Jones Crawford, 91, died Monday at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born in Wayne County to Matthew Frank and Nona Williams Jones. Mrs. Crawford was a lifetime member of Mays Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, James Berkley Crawford; brothers, Frank, Clarence, Dan and Ray Jones.

Mrs. Crawford is survived by a son, Jim Crawford; daughter, Doris "Faye" Lewis; grandchildren, Jimmy Craw-ford and wife, Kathy, Lori Cheek and husband, David, and Tim Crawford; great-grandchildren, David Charles Cheek, Chris Miles Cheek, and James Crawford III; sisters, Ellen Miller and Pennie Herring; a special family member, Helen Price; and special nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Wayne Memorial Park, Goldsboro, with the Rev. Jeff Daughtry officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, Winston-Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mays Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, 381 US 117 South Alt, Dudley, N.C. 28333.

Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home will be assisting with graveside services.
