KENNETH H. NEAL

Kenneth Harlon Neal, 73, 115 Overbrook Road, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Wayne County to the late Rupert H. and Beulah Ingram Neal. He retired as chairman of the Business Department at Wayne Community College and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a captain. He graduated from East Carolina University and received his undergraduate and master's degrees from Duke University. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Methodist Men and was a member of the Goldsboro Kiwanis Club. In 1997, he was awarded the Administrator of the Year Award at Wayne Community College and the George E. Wilson (for Teaching of Excellence) Award.

Funeral service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Harvin officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, Comolia May Neal; son, Kenneth Harlon Neal Jr. and wife, Allison, of Goldsboro; and two grandchildren, Cody and Hannah Neal.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1608 E. Pine St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534, the American Red Cross, 600 N. George St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530 or to the Kiwanis Club of Goldsboro, P.O. Box 10386, Goldsboro, N.C. 27532.

Family will receive friends Tuesday at Seymour Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at his residence.
