RUPERT G. ROUSE

March 11, 1920-March 12, 2007

PINK HILL -- In line with generations, you were as many, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, but to us you were unique. The son of the late Rupert B. and Ruth Graham Rouse, you were a soldier for your country when you met and married a lively beautiful redhead, the former Vivian N. Nichols and became the father to six loving, strong, hardworking children; Wesley of Liberty, N.C., Sandra Lipscomb of Strasburg, Va., Elton of Liberty, N.C., Freida Mills of Asheboro, N.C., Carla Whaley of Albertson, and Marsha Runyan of Charlotte, N.C. You were a grandfather to 15 and a great-grandfather to eight who all hope to follow the wonderful example set by their grandparents. You were a loving brother to Stuart and Gary Rouse, Audrey Tyson, and Eris Bias, all of Kinston, N.C.

You taught us how best to live our lives and strive to be Christ-like. Applying it literally, you were a carpenter and builder, you fed your flocks, you sowed the seeds and reaped your crops, you surrounded yourself with fishermen (namely your children and grandchildren), and you fed the multitudes at all the church picnics at your farm. You welcomed the little children and not so little children to come to you, you comforted and counseled and taught. You were a light to the world and to a room when you smiled. We thank God he put you on this earth so you could do and teach us all you did. You leave this earth a better place. Go with God and rest in peace.

Visitation will be held at the Rouse home at 132 Clarence Harper Lane just off Highway 903 in Albertson, Wednesday, March 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. The burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Rupert Rouse, Community Home Care and Hospice Foundation, 321 N. Main St., Kenansville, N.C.

A Pink Hill Funeral Home Service.
