ROBERT F. WOOD

DALLAS, Texas -- Robert "Bob" Forrest Wood, formerly of Goldsboro, died following a lengthy illness. He was born in Rocky Mount to the late Forrest and Bess K. Wood.

Mr. Wood graduated from Edwards Military Institute and the Citadel. He served his country in Japan and was discharged as a captain from the U.S. Air Force Reserve. In 1964, he moved to Dallas to serve as assistant regional director for the Office of Civil Rights and later, in 1985, retired as deputy regional director of Medicaid with the Health and Human Services Department.

A memorial service was held Feb. 5, 2007. Burial with honors was at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Hulda Hawkins Wood, of Dallas; two daughters; a sister, Rheta Holt, of Indiana; and a brother, Wallace Wood, of New York.
