PRESTON R. UZZELL

Preston R. Uzzell, 83, of 595 St. John Church Road, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Mr. Uzzell was born in Wayne County to the late Richard and Beulah Newsome Uzzell. He was a retired chemist with Allied Signal in Baltimore, Md., and following retirement worked with Rouse Radio and Television. Mr. Uzzell served with the United States Army.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 7 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Vito Bisogno officiating.
Mr. Uzzell is survived by his wife, Christine Sutton Uzzell; five brothers, Theodore Uzzell, Malcolm Uzzell, Milton Uzzell, Marvin Uzzell and David Uzzell, all of Goldsboro; two sisters, Glenda Uzzell and Jeanette Hyde, both of Goldsboro; along with several special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Alice Hines Uzzell; seven brothers, Raymond Uzzell, Richard Uzzell, Robert Lee Uzzell, Bennie Uzzell, John William Uzzell, Richard Uzzell and Prentice Uzzell; and three sisters, Pauline Thomas, Pennie Ruth Thompson and Emma Francis Jones.
Arrangements were with Rouse Funeral Home, LaGrange.
