STANTONSBURG--Louise Jenkins Howell, 90, died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont. The Rev. A.G. Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Stantonsburg Cemetery in Stantonsburg.

Mrs. Howell was born in Wilson County to the late John Henry Jenkins and Addie Jones Jenkins. She was a member of Watery Branch Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Audrey West and her husband, Jerry, of Fremont, Peggy Lancaster of Pikeville and Carolyn Parris of Wilson; a brother, Douglas Jenkins and his wife, Patty, of Stella; six grandchildren, Craig West and his wife, Nell, Brad West and his wife, Lynn, Michael Lancaster and his wife, Dana, Betsy Hill and her husband, Donald, Phyllis Woodley and her husband, Terry, and Susan Binger and her husband, Mike; nine great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Jane Grant.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper "Jack" Howell; and a son-in-law, Wiley Lancaster.

The family received friends Saturday evening at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 North Pine St. in Fremont and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Jerry West, 1365 Hwy. 222 East in Fremont.
