ELIJAH LEE SMITH

Elijah Lee "Ringman" Smith, 85, of 505 Bunche Drive, died Thursday at home.

Born in Richmond, Va., Mr. Smith was a graduate of Armstong High School and later attended Virginia Union University. He was a Balfour sales representative for more than 30 years and served in the US Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He was a former member of Thirty-First St. Baptist Church in Richmond, Va., and also served as a deacon at First African Missionary Baptist Church for more than 30 years. He was also a member of New Spirit Missionary Baptist, where he served as a deacon.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah Lee Smith Sr. and Mary Lou Smith; his wife, Rose Seldon Smith; a son, Bruce Seldon Smith; a daughter, Joyce Renee Smith Dixon; a brother, Edward Smith, Sr.; and a granddaughter, Rose Lee Dixon

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First African Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Louis Leigh Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park North.

He is survived by a granddaughter and a grandson.
