The Rev. Edward Willis Miles, 84, 376 Church of God Road, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Rev. Miles was born in Florence County, S.C. to the late Walker Wallace Miles and Fannie M. Miles. He served as a Free Will Baptist Minister for 41 years.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Bailey, the Rev. Frank Harrison and Dr. Burkette Raper officiating. Interment will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie Floyd Miles; daughters, Windy M. Whitman and husband, Darby, of Clayton and Gail M. Trump and husband, Larry, of Goldsboro; son, Mitchell "Mitch" E. Miles and wife, Judy, of Goldsboro; sisters, Loretta Turner of Barnwell, S.C., Mae Kirby of Scranton, S.C., Iris Powers of Florence, S.C. and Mary Etta Stabler of St. Matthews, S.C.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to the Edward W. Miles and Bessie F. Miles Endowment for ministerial scholarships at Mount Olive College, 634 Henderson St., Mount Olive, N.C. 28365.

Family will receive friends in the sanctuary of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church following the funeral service and other times at his home.

Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home.
