LAGRANGE -- Mary Harriette Aldridge Wilson, 85, of 501 West Boundary St., died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Born in Lenoir County, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents, James Kirkpatrick Aldridge Sr. and Nancy Irene Hardy Aldridge; stepmother, Carrie Jones Aldridge; husband, Joseph Walter "Jodie" Wilson Jr.; and a brother, James K. Aldridge Jr. She was a member of LaGrange First Free Will Baptist Church and had a great love of gardening.
A service of remembrance will be held at 5 p.m. this afternoon at Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Thornton and Scott Hardy, L.P. officiating. Interment will be Monday at 11 a.m. from Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by three children, Joseph Walter "J.W." Wilson III and wife, Myrtle of Kinston, Irene Wilson of LaGrange, Gloria Allen and husband, Tommy of Dudley; five grandchildren, Kerri Harris and husband, Stuart of Wilmington, Amy Brinker and husband, Jason of Wilmington, Shanna Wilson and special friend, Brent Wiggins of LaGrange, Skyler Hardy and husband, Scott of LaGrange, Caitlin Aldridge Allen of Dudley; five great-grandchildren, Deanna Spence, Grayson Harris, Bella Brinker, Mary Gray Hardy and Jodi Wiggins; two sisters, Martha Aldridge Harrison and husband, Kendrick of LaGrange, Marie Aldridge Creech of Snow Hill; sister-in-law, Carolyn Wilson Hill of Gastonia; brother-in-law, J.L. Wilson of LaGrange; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends following the service.
