GEORGE L. FUTRELLE

HICKORY--George Linwood Futrelle of Hickory, died Saturday at Catawba Valley Medical Center, after a brief illness.

Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Emmett C. and Minnie Grant Futrelle.

George was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Newton. He retired from Comez of North America as a bookkeeper. He was also a member in the American Legion Post #48 and served on the USS Birmingham in World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Madeleine Frederic Futrelle, of the home; daughter, Marilyn L. Futrelle of Conover; sons, Linwood Futrelle and wife, Diane, of Chapel Hill, Rick Futrelle and wife, Betsy, of Conover, Ricardo Fratti and famly of Santa Fe, Argentina; grandchildren, Abigail Futrelle of Chapel Hill, Eric Futrelle of Chapel Hill, Chris Westbrook of Anderson, S.C.; brothers, Earl Futrelle of Houston, Texas, Milton Futrelle of Goldsboro.

George as preceded in death by a sister and brother.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Newton with Father James Collins officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Hickory Funeral Home.

Hickory Funeral Home 1031 11th Ave. Blvd. S.E., Hickory, is assisting the Futrelle family with the arrangements.
