DUDLEY -- Dorothy J. Auvil, 76, 562 Massey Road, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Born in Grafton, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Jacob Samuel and Paney Frye Shaffer. Formerly employed with Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation for Mount Olive, she was very active in the community as a volunteer. A member of Love Memorial Baptist Church, she was active in the Willing Workers and her Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Love Memorial Baptist Church with Richard Wright and the Rev. Richard Toler officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
She is survived by her husband, Emery T. Auvil; three sons, Clyde William Dodd of Fayetteville, Carl F. Auvil of Pikeville, Emery Ray Auvil of Mount Olive; two daughters, Mary R. Gibson of Sanford, Donna S. Poling of Grafton, W.Va.; brother, Russell Wayne Shaffer of Fairmont, W.Va.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Family members will greet friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
