Mr. Whitfield was a veteran of the U. S. Army having been stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. He was employed by W.R. Jennette Furniture Company in Mount Olive where he was co-owner and operator. He was a long-time member of the Thunder Swamp Church and was a former deacon.
