FRANCES M. HINE

WASHINGTON -- Frances Massey Hine, 89, former resident of 432 E. Main St., died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Martha Matthews, 140 E. Main St., Washington.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Willowdale Cemetery, Goldsboro.

Mrs. Hine was born in Salisbury to the late Charles Robert and Ida Bost Wiggins Massey. She worked for the United Way in Goldsboro and Rocky Mount, where she retired with 30 years of service, and was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles James Hine.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha Hine Matthews of Washington; her son, Robert Earl Hine and his wife, Brenda, of Ft. Myers, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles James Hine Jr.; a sister, Verona Massey; and four brothers, Charles Robert, Kermit Nathan, Hoyle Clinton and William Dowell Massey.

The family received friends Saturday at Ms. Matthews' home, 140 E. Main St., Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 985, Washington, N.C. 27889.
