GEORGE C. ATKINSON

George Cutler Atkinson, 78, 1405 Apt. 30A Poplar St., died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was born in Wayne County and attended Wayne County Public Schools. He was employed at James Theater and Sasser Distributing Company, Goldsboro.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Madie Atkinson Foster; father, George C. Atkinson; sister, Mary E. Lamb; daughter, Patricia A. Harris.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mc-Intyre Funeral Home Chapel in Goldsboro with Bishop D. L. McIntyre, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

He is survived by a grandson, Albert Harris of Annapolis, Md.; three nieces, Shirley A. Humphrey, Judy Atkinson-Saeed and Randie Hamm, all of N.J.; nephew, Jeffery Lamb of N.Y.; two great-nieces, Sheri Humphrey and Soraya Hamm of N.J.; four great-nephews, Curtis Humphrey Jr, Brian Horner, Joghana Horner, all of N.J. and Keith and Angela Humphrey of Atlanta, Ga.; three cousins, Richard Lewis Jr., Jean Edwards and Delmus Simmons; extended family, Jesse Paul and Peggy Sasser, Danny and Jenean Sasser, Jeff and Kim Hill, Ted and Jan Holmes, Henry and Carolyn Braswell.

Viewing will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. to receive friends.
