DUDLEY -- Johnnie Ivey Deaver, 84, 105 Woods Drive, died Wednesday at his home.

Services will be at Tyndall Funeral Home Friday at 11 a. m. The Rev. James Spencer will be the officiating minister. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Mount Olive.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and had been employed by the N. C. Department of Transportation as a crew leader.

Among his survivors are his wife, Ruby Weaver Deaver of the home; two sons, Johnny Ivey Deaver Jr. and wife, Nancy, and Charles Deaver and wife, Faye, all of Faison; six daughters, Ruth DeYoung and husband, Larry, of Roxboro, Rosemary Howard and husband, Robert, of High Point, Betty Jean Blackman and husband, Jerry, of Raleigh, Joyce Pierce and husband, Neil, of Faison, Alice Thompson and husband, Doug, of Morehead City, and Carolyn Hope Pate and husband, Greg, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Margaret Varnes of Ocala, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Deaver was preceded in death by a son, Henry Jerry Deaver on Dec. 28, 2006; his parents, John Ivey and Hester Grady Deaver; and five sisters, Mary Gainus, Nancy Brock, Susan Hunt, Ann Lever, and Viola Deaver.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight and other times at the home.
