FRANK L. WADE

Funeral services for Frank Lafayette Wade will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Goldsboro. The family will host a visitation in the Church Parlor following the service. His ashes will be interred with his wife's in Panama City, Fla., at a later date.

Mr. Wade was born in Birmingham, Ala. on May 16, 1916, son of Frank and Jessie Wade. He attended Birmingham Southern College and Auburn University. Mr. Wade moved from Birmingham, Ala. to Panama City, Fla. in 1955. There, he worked for various automobile dealers in the Panama City area and was active with First United Methodist Church, serving as Sunday school teacher, usher, and on various committees over the years. He was a member of the Exchange Club of Panama City.

Mr. Wade had a life-long interest in aviation. This interest led to his service as a Flight Instructor with the Army Air Corp during World War II, a pilot for Eastern Airlines and culminated with his appointment as manager of the Panama City-Bay County Airport in Panama City, Fla.

In recent years, Mr. Wade was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club in Goldsboro, NC and attended St. Stephen's Episcopal Church with his family.

Mr. Wade is survived by his daughters, Judy Carpenter and husband, Gene, of Goldsboro, NC; Fran Harris and husband, Rick of South Riding, Va.; his granddaughter, Jennifer Carpenter of Denton, TX and his faithful companion, Shasta. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mary Lee.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to St. Stephens's Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice.
