Retired (Air Force) Master Sgt. Lonnie Daniel Lupton Jr., 65, Country Day Road, died Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center after a long illness.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. The Rev. Dann Patrick will officiate. Inter-ment will follow at Pineview Cemetery in Seven Springs.

Mr. Lupton was born in Wayne County to the late Lonnie Lupton Sr. of Goldsboro and the late Josephine Taylor Lupton. He was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Lupton retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1981 as a Master Sgt. He served 23 years in the military. He later worked as kitchen overseer at "The Pines" until his illness.

He is survived by a son, Lonnie Lupton III of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Joanne Rosser of Hampton, Va., and Barbara Ann Jones of Suffolk, Va.; a brother, Bobby Lupton of Goldsboro; and a very special friend, Darrell Garner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Lupton; a sister, Doris Waldon and a brother, Kenneth Lupton.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory.
