LEONARD D. COMBS

Mr. Leonard Deems Combs, 76, of 302 Combs Road, died Sunday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Combs was born in Wayne County on October 24, 1930 to the late Nathan Addison Combs and Ola Mae Pate Combs. He was a retired clerk with the United States Postal Service. Mr. Combs was a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Ambassador Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Travelers Protection Agency. Mr. Combs served his country in the United States Air Force.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Gary Bailey and Rev. Barry Williamson officiating.

Mr. Combs is survived by his wife, Dell Parks Combs; his sisters, Mildred C. Marlowe of Goldsboro, Vivian C. Lancaster of Pikeville, JoAnn C. King of Goldsboro; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ava Howell Combs Whitfield and Bill Whitfield of Nashville; his sister-in-law, Ruby P. Gurley and husband, Woody of LaGrange; a niece, Paul Boldt and husband, John of LaGrange, a great-nephew, Andrew Boldt of LaGrange; and other special relatives, Hal and Kelly Best of Pikeville, Kim and Doug Honeycutt, Forest and Walker Honeycutt of Pikeville, Teresa and Eddie Corbett of Goldsboro, Dwayne Smith of Goldsboro, Ann Best of Pikeville, Mildred Smith of Goldsboro and John and Carolyn Smith of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Aileen C. Elmore, Virginia C. Williford and Peggy C. Whitfield; and his brothers, H.B. Combs and Bob Combs.

Family requests memorials to be made to Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church, 752 Stoney Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.
