The Rev. Aubrey McElroy Jr., 51, 413 E. Spruce St., died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Wayne County, 1974 graduate of Goldsboro High School, attended United Christian College and was employed at Goldsboro High School. The Rev. McElroy served as an Associate Minister and Pastor's Armor Bearer at Pentecostal Holy Church, member of Voices of Pentecost at Pentecostal Holy Church, Eastern District Choir and Southern District Mass Choir of the United Holy Church.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Pentecostal Holy Church, 600 E. Pine St., with pastor Willie E. Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his father, Deacon Aubrey McElroy Sr., and his wife, Martha Devaughn McElroy.
Rev. McElroy was survived by two sons, Shon and Andrea Devaughn, both of Goldsboro; one daughter, Lakeshia Devaughn of Raleigh; mother, Eunice McElroy of Goldsboro; four sisters, Patricia Lowery of Raleigh, Rosa Speight, Minister Barbara Worrell, and Elder Thelma Davis, all of Goldsboro; eight grandchildren.
Viewing will be today at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries, 900 S. George St., from 2 to 6 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the home of his mother at 116 S. Slocumb Street
