BOSWELL, Okla. -- Patsy Ruth Elmore Hughes, 74, died Saturday in Fort Worth, TX. She was born in Boswell, Okla., to the late John Elmer and Velma Elmore and was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Harold Hughes.

Patsy returned to her hometown of Boswell, after retiring from The Grizzly Newspaper in Big Bear Lake, Calif., following her husband's death. Her time there was happily spent with family and friends. She looked forward to activities with the extension homemakers club and playing dominoes with special friends, "the golden girls." The Dorcas Sunday School Class also held a special place in her heart.

Memorial service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Boswell, with the Rev. David Watkins officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church fellowship hall.

She is survived by her children; Rick Hughes and wife, Debbie, of Goldsboro, Ron Hughes of Spokane, Wash., Janet Steed and Keith Hughes, both of Ft. Worth, TX; brothers, Bud Elmore and Tex Elmore of Boswell, Okla., Bobbye Bilbrey of Lubbock, TX and Larry Elmore of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Marty Curtis of Boswell, Okla. and Linda Marler of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Danielle, Nicole and Haley Hughes of Spokane, Wash., and Will and Ginny Hughes of Goldsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the First Baptist Church, 600 Sixth St., Boswell, Okla. 74727. Funeral home/crematory services were provided by the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, TX.
