Virginia "Jink" McCarter McDonald, 87, of 1409 E. Maple Street, died early Monday at her residence.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Jefferson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
Mrs. McDonald was born in Johnston County. She was the daughter of the late James S. and Hattie Gay McCarter and wife of the late Woodrow Irvin McDonald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
She was a dedicated member of Jefferson United Methodist Church and also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. McDonald is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mount Olive Town Manager Irvin Ray Sr. and Norma Carole McDonald; two grandsons, Irvin Ray McDonald Jr. and his wife, Catherine, of Mount Olive and William Michael Lee McDonald and his wife, Dawn, of Goldsboro; three great grandchildren, Mollie Catherine McDonald, Clayton Lee McDonald and William Michael McDonald Jr.; special nephews, Arley McCarter of Dudley and Clarence Daughety of New York, N.Y.; and special nieces, Ruth Hoffman of Goldsboro and Margie Southerland of Columbia, SC.
The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 2 until 3 p.m., and at other times at the home of Ray McDonald, 615 W. Main Street, Mount Olive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Jefferson United Methodist Church, 1100 Jefferson St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534; or to the Home Health & Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
