ESTHER ALLEN
ROCKY MOUNT -- The funeral for Esther Edgerton Allen, 92, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Marvin United Methodist Church. The Rev. Faye Ethridge will officiate. Burial will be in Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Allen was born in Wayne County and was the daughter of the late H. Haskell and Mary A. Pearson Edgerton. She graduated from Nahunta High School, attended Guilford College for one year and graduated from Parkview Hospital School of Nursing in Rocky Mount.
After her marriage to the late Herman Allen of Rocky Mount, Mrs. Allen transferred her membership from Nahunta Friends Meeting to Marvin United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully until she sold her home and moved to Virginia Beach, Va., to live near her son, Robert Allen.
Surviving, in addition to her son, his wife and their two children, is her brother, Dr. Wilbert J. Edgerton of Greensboro.
The family will receive friends on Friday night from 7 until 9 at Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 1912 Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount.
