David Elmo Shandy Sr., 44, died Wednesday.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends there on Friday night from 7 until 9, and other times at the home of his sister, Tamela S. Caulder, 104 Buttonwood Road, Goldsboro.
