JOEL M. HARRIS
DEEP RUN -- Joel McCray Harris, 67, of 2493 John Green Smith Road, died Monday at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Southwood Memorial Christian Church with the Rev. Rick Vernon officiating. Burial will be in Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Harris worked with the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles for over 44 years and was a former field supervisor, and also served in the U. S. Coast Guard for six years. He was an avid golfer and was an alternate for the Senior PGA Tour in 1988.
Survivors include his wife, Betty S. Harris of the home; three daughters, Joelynn Dawn Harris, Diane H. Howard and Donna H. Stroud of Kinston; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home and other times at the home of Diane Howard, 1627 Hwy. 58 South.
