DANNY M. ROUSE
GREENVILLE -- Retired Colonel Danny M. Rouse, 57, of Greenville, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at his residence.
Danny was born in Lenoir County to Marion R. "Shorty" Rouse of La Grange and the late Emma Anderson Rouse. Danny was a 1964 graduate of Wheat Swamp High School and did his undergraduate work at NC Wesleyan College. He later earned two master's degrees from Central Michigan University. Danny devoted his life to serving his country. He devoted thirty-four years to the United States Air Force retiring as a Colonel in October of 2002. Danny was a Command Pilot for much of his military career. He served as a pilot flight instructor for the B-52, B1B and KC-135 aircraft. He met his wife, Mihaela, while serving as Director of Operations for the United Nations in Iraq. His many decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, five Meritorious Service Medals and the Air Medal earned for heroism while flying combat missions in Vietnam. Colonel Rouse held several command assignments and was Vice Commander for the Air Force Inspection Agency. He also served as a full professor at both Texas Tech University and Louisiana Tech University.
In addition to his father, Danny is survived by his wife of five years, Mihaela Neagu Rouse; four children, John M. Rouse of Denver, Colorado, Jennifer Rouse Limotte and husband, Mark, of New York, Lauren Lynn Rouse of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Anca Barbu of Greenville; a sister, Diane Rouse Oakley and husband, Gary, of Temple, Texas; and a brother, Randy F. Rouse of LaGrange.
A service to celebrate Danny's life will be held Saturday, February 21, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home with Rev. H.C. Turner officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held at a later date from Arlington National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service Saturday.
