ROBERT L. GARRETT SR.
Robert L. Garrett, 66, of 136 Adler Lane, died Friday while enjoying his favorite hobby of golfing at Lane Tree Golf Course.
A native of Edenton, he was the son of the late Betty and Otha Garrett. Mr. Garrett was a retired master sergeant with the United States Air Force with 20 years of service and was retired from Bridgestone/Firestone with 20 years of service. Bob loved his family and friends and touched so many lives. He cherished his time on the golf course, working in his yard, and feeding his blue birds.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Huskins officiating. Private burial will be Monday in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen P. (Kip) Garrett; children, Robert L. Garrett Jr. and wife Lisa of Farmville, Tommy A. Garrett and wife Sheree of Goldsboro and Carol Anne Garrett Lane and husband Bill of Goldsboro; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Curtis Garrett of Norfolk, Va.; sister, Shirley Garrett Byrum of Hertford; and four special friends and golfing buddies, Bill Posey, Mitch Mitchell, Tony Best, and Joe Raczkowski.
Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by brothers, Gilbert Ralph and William (B.K.) Garrett; and sister Hazel Byrum.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hank Penwell, Tony Best, Joe Raczkowski, Mitch Mitchell, Bill Posey and John Pritchett.
Flowers are welcomed, or memorials may be made to Wayne County American Legion Post 11, 2973 U.S. 117 S., Dudley, N.C. 28333.
The family will receive friends following the service.
