A Goldsboro man is under arrest after he attempted to flee during a traffic stop.

The Regional Enforcement And Criminal Target Team was patroling the area along Wayne Memorial Drive on Saturday, when they stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation.

According to a statement from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, deputies made contact with 27-year-old Charles Richards Hill III of 1609 South John St., inside the vehicle, and conducted a search. Inside, they found methamphetamine and marijuana, according to the release.

When deputies attempted to arrest Hill, he fled on foot. A short foot chase ensued, and Hill was quickly apprehended and arrested. He has been charged with possession of methamphetamine; possession of marijuana; resist, delay and obstruct; injury to personal property; and felony probation violation.

Hill was booked into the Wayne County Detention Center with a $50,000 secured bond.
