A school bus driver application and information fair will be offered by Wayne County Public Schools Friday.
The event will be from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Wayne County Public Library on Ash Street.
The district's transportation department will have staff on hand to answer questions and to help applicants take the first step toward becoming a school bus driver.
"If you are seeking flexible hours and have an interest in driving school buses to support education, we would encourage you to come out to this application event," said Robert Lee, WCPS transportation director.
"Our transportation team is ready to share information about the requirements to be a school bus driver and help get applicants signed up for our upcoming school bus driver training class to begin Sept. 17."
North Carolina school bus drivers must possess a Commercial Drivers License.
To obtain a CDL, applicants must complete the district's school bus driver training program, which consists of three days of classroom instruction and three days of behind-the-wheel training. They must also pass a written examination, administered by the DMV School Bus and Traffic Safety Section of North Carolina.
