Wayne Library to host nature exhibit

The Wayne County Public Library, 1001 East Ash St., has been chosen to host a traveling exhibit from the State Library of North Carolina.
"Rich in the Rare" is the title of the exhibit that will open at the Goldsboro library branch in mid-August.
The Goldsboro library branch has also planned three accompanying programs that will showcase some of North Carolina's rare species both plant and animal.
All three programs will take place at the Goldsboro branch at 6 p.m.
Through both the exhibit and programs, patrons of all ages will have the opportunity to learn about the health of a particular plant or animal population, including extinct, endangered and "threatened.
Patrons also will learn about some of the state's most unique habitats, from the mountains to the coast, as well as three to five species found in those areas.
They also will learn what they can do to help protect the wildlife and environments, and they can also see what a loggerhead turtle nest looks like, as well as park ranger dolls, and wood carvings of state birds.
At the library's first program, on Tuesday, Aug. 28, ages 12 and up can learn to make their own terrariums and take one home.

The second program will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 11, and will explore the natural treasures that are present in the state.
It will be presented by the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences.
The final program, on Tuesday, Sept. 25, will be on carnivorous plants and will be presented by a representative from the Wilson Botanical Gardens.
No registration is necessary for the two September programs.
