Carver Alumni 36th annual reunion

The Carver High School Alumni and Friends Association will celebrate its 36th year during its alumni reunion weekend Thursday, July 5, through Sunday, July 8.
The theme will be "Saluting A Tradition of Pride and Achievement" with special recognition given to the Classes of 1943, 1953, 1963, 1948, 1958 and 1968.
The event will get underway at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 5, with the youth and scholarship program in the Carver Cultural Center Campus banquet hall.
Raymond Smith Jr., an at-large member of the Wayne County Board of Education and Democratic candidate for state House District 21, will be the speaker for the free event.
Friday's events will start with the private general membership meeting at 10 a.m. in the Carver Cultural Center banquet hall.
The annual banquet will start at 6 p.m. and will include a tribute to outgoing national president Cassandra Rush.
Tickets are $25 and are only available in advance.
Banquet reservations can be made payable through P.O. Box 30, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
The annual picnic will be held at noon that Saturday in the center's gym. The cost is $20.
A dance and social will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight in the gym.

Helga A. Greenfield, Class of 1968, will be the speaker for the Sunday, July 8, prayer breakfast that will start at 9 a.m. in the gym.
The cost is $15.
