Goldsboro Police officer loses control of vehicle, crashes through George Street building

A Goldsboro Police officer was cited for failure to reduce speed Thursday evening after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a building while responding to an emergency call, according to a Goldsboro Police Department wreck report.
According to the report, officer Brent Woodall was traveling along N. George St. around 7 p.m. Thursday on an emergency call, while using his vehicle's blue lights and sirens.
As Woodall approached the intersection of N. George Street and W. Holly Street, he drove over a railroad track crossing and briefly lost traction with the road.
As Woodall's vehicle came back to the ground, it veered off to the left of the road.
According to the report, Woodall attempted to brake, but experienced a brake fade due to having been driving at high speed for a few miles while responding to the emergency call.
Woodard's vehicle ran off the road, and then struck a tree and a fence before crashing completely through a building at 610 N. George St., finally coming to a rest on the other side on W. Holly Street.
Photos posted on social media by onlookers showed that the vehicle sustained major damage along its front and rear bumpers. A trail of debris littered the ground behind the vehicle, following its trail as it blew through the building.
No one was seriously injured in the wreck, according to the report. Goldsboro police Maj. Dwayne Dean said that the building was being used as a storage building, and no one was occupying it at the time of the wreck.
