One shot in Goldsboro; police search for suspect

The SUV with a bullet holes and a busted driver side window is parked on the corner of Ash and Slocumb streets Saturday, following a shooting near Westbrook Road.
Police are searching for the suspect involved in a Saturday shooting that left one woman injured.
Warrants have been issued against Demarcus Martrell Davis, 33, of Goldsboro, for attempted murder, firing into an occupied vehicle and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Goldsboro police.
Davis is considered armed and dangerous.
Davis is wanted for allegedly shooting Ashley Oates, 34, Saturday afternoon at the intersection of South Slocumb Street and Westbrook Road.
At 12:22 p.m., police responded to a call of a victim being shot at the intersection of Slocumb Street and Ash Street. When officers arrived, they found Oates sitting inside her vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. She was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, said Sgt. B.H. Canady, with the Goldsboro Police Department.
The investigation, which is being handled by the GPD Criminal Investigations Division, revealed that the shooting took place blocks away at Westbrook Road.
Oates was taken by ambulance to Wayne UNC Health Care and was later transported to Vidant Medical Center, in Greenville. She was listed in stable condition Saturday evening, Canady said.
Police confirmed that the shooting was the result of a domestic disturbance between Oates and Davis, both who were in a relationship. Ten police officers responded to the incident, which remains under investigation.
The incident frightened residents in the Slocumb Street area.
Members of Soldiers for Christ Outreach Ministry, located at 1818 S. Slocumb St., were out having a picnic on the church lawn at the time of the shooting. Several people said they heard multiple gunshots. One woman said she is thankful that the gunfire went in another direction and not toward the church.
Henrietta Tanner, who operates Havana Shave Ice shop on Slocumb Street, said she also heard multiple gunshots back-to-back.
"At the time of the shooting, I had a customer here, who was hiding and crying because of the shooting," Tanner said.
