The candidate filing period for judicial offices in the Nov. 6 general election begins at noon Monday and ends at noon Friday, June 29.
The district court seat currently held by 8th Judicial District Judge Beth Heath of Kinston is the only local contest on the ballot, according to the Wayne County Board of Elections.
Statewide judicial seats on the ballot will include the N.C. Supreme Court seat now held by Barbara A. Jackson and three N.C. Court of Appeals judgeships held by John S. Arrowood, Ann M. Calabria and Richard A. Elmore.
Also, voters across the state will elect about three dozen superior court judges and about 120 district court judges.
A 2017 law established that there will be no judicial primary for Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Superior Court or District Court contests in 2018.
That bill remains subject to litigation, but barring any court-imposed changes, candidates will run in the Nov. 6 general election without a primary.
All candidates will file their candidacy with the State Board of Elections and Ethics Enforcement in Raleigh.
Updated judicial candidate lists will be posted daily throughout the filing period on the State Board's website, www.ncsbe.gov.
Once filed, the deadline to withdraw as a candidate is Tuesday, June 26.
