The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce is focusing on small business, offering seminars throughout the week in celebration of National Small Business Week.
Free sessions focusing on financial freedom, entrepreneurial aspirations, social media marketing and customer and vendor management are being offered at the chamber.
"We do them every year," said Lara Landers, director of marketing and events for the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce.
"It's national Small Business Week, so it is not just here at the Wayne County Chamber. In celebration of that, we provide free sessions for (people) to come take advantage of it. "
During National Small Business Week, which is April 29 to May 5, the SBA honors entrepreneurs and highlights the nation's small businesses' contributions.
The SBA also offers in-person events, including two in Washington, D.C., on April 29 and 30 that was livestreamed on Facebook; one was held in Jacksonville, Florida, Tuesday; another is slated in Columbia, South Carolina, today; and there will be an in-person event in Raleigh on Thursday.
The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce has catered its free sessions to address the small business needs and issues specific to Wayne County.
"We reach out and ask individuals if they would like to do one," Landers said. "We talk to the small business center at Wayne Community College and see what they would do to help businesses here in Wayne County."
The Chamber's events kicked off Tuesday with Norma Garza presenting "Financial Freedom It's Closer Than You Think," which was to address retirement, debt and wresting control of spending, savings and taxation.
