Dr. Robert Shackelford, second from left, is presented the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Sunday following services at First Baptist Church in Mount Olive. Shackelford practiced medicine in Mount Olive from 1949 until 2013. From left are Dr. Kevin Talton, Shackelford, Dr. Opey Jeanes, who nominated Shackelford for the honor, and Carol Dilda, who worked with Shackelford for many years at Mount Olive Family Medicine Center. The award is the highest honor of recognition in the state, and it is presented by the governor.
