Wayne County Public Schools will host its annual parent seminar Thursday at the WCPS Professional Development & Family Engagement Center at 415 S. Virginia St.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. The guest speaker this year is Nikki Bush, a South African best-selling author, motivational speaker and parenting expert. She will speak on strategies for "future proofing" your child and becoming a tech-savvy parent.
Caroline Brown, WCPS Title I parent coordinator, said in a press release that she expects Bush to bring a valuable perspective to local parents.
"We are excited to have Mrs. Bush join us to share her strategies for helping parents cultivate strong relationships with their children in order to help them become successful in school and in life," Brown said in the release. "I believe her expertise and ability to motivate parents to become better engaged in their children's life will make this year's Parent Seminar special for all of the parents and school staff who attend."
The event is free, and refreshments and lunch will be provided. Transportation, translators and child care are available upon request.
Registration for the seminar begins at 8:30 a.m. Parents planning to attend should RSVP to Brown at 919-736-5073 or by email at carolinebrown@wcps.org.
