Sugarfoot Shag Club to host its annual fundraising event

The Sugarfoot Shag Club of Goldsboro is holding its annual Mike Overman Charity Fundraiser Event on Saturday, March 17, from 7 to 11p.m. at Lane Tree Event Center in Goldsboro.
The club holds an annual charity fundraiser in order to raise money for local charities, including Cures for the Colors, Relay for Life, Goldsboro Soup Kitchen, Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Wayne County Special Olympics and Wayne County Meals on Wheels.
Three years ago, the Sugarfoot Shag Club began paying tribute to one of its members by naming the annual fundraiser in honor of a local DJ, Mike "Shag Daddy" Overman, who passed away in December 2014.
While Mike was alive, he donated his DJ services to many fundraising events across Wayne County and the state. He was well-known for giving of his time to community service.
At this event, there will be a silent auction of donated items and a raffle of a Yetti cooler donated by EZ Bait & Tackle.
The Sugarfoot Shag Club is a nonprofit organization with 189 active members.
The Shag Club members believe in serving the community and this fundraiser is one of its annual efforts to achieve that goal.
Tickets for the event are $20, which includes a meal, dancing and fun socializing with others who love beach music and community service.
The DJ for the event is Joey Warren.

People interested in attending the Mike Overman Charity Fundraiser do not have to be a member of the Sugarfoot Shag Club to attend.
