A Goldsboro church is hosting a military appreciation and information service to address some of the pending changes that will be taking effect.

The event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Free Will Baptist Church, 280 Claridge Nursery Road, said Ahkeesha Capers.

"We're trying to get the word out that the administration has changed since (President) Trump's been in office -- VA benefits, military benefits, things that are out there and are available for people that have served our country," said Capers, whose husband, Les Capers,  pastors St. Joseph.

The informational session is for active duty military and veterans, any branch, including the National Guard and reserves and retirees.

Sen. Don Davis will be the featured guest, presenting the information, Ahkeesha Capers said, who added that her husband will likely also share a bit about the church.

"This is an outreach," she said.

"We do have some military in our church but  this is an outreach benefit to let the base know we're there."

The event will also include an opportunity for questions, followed by a meal.

"Everyone is more than welcome to bring their spouse and their families," Capers said, encouraging anyone interested in attending the free session to register so organizers can get a head count.

Register online at Evenbrite.com and search "We Love Our Military" or by calling the church, 919-736-7938.
