Annual interfaith breakfast will take place Feb. 15

People from different religious backgrounds will join together for the Annual Interfaith Breakfast on Feb. 15 in Goldsboro.
The event, under the theme "Where Do We Go from Here," includes guest speakers from two churches and a mosque.
The annual interfaith breakfast is being hosted by the city of Goldsboro, Wayne County and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and coincides with the February celebration of Human Relations Month and Black History Month.
"This is an opportunity to promote unity between all the relevant leaders in our communities and for those leaders to provide a religious message that fosters community building, inclusiveness and togetherness for 'Growing Goldsboro/Wayne County Together,'" said Shycole Simpson-Carter, community relations director for the city of Goldsboro.
The speakers will each deliver a five minute inspirational message focusing on the event theme. The speakers include Apostle Edwin Von Newsome, co-pastor of Impact Church Goldsboro, Pastor John Howard, worship pastor at The First Church, and Dr. Qasim Siddiqui Mohammed Imam, from the Islamic Center of Goldsboro.
Each year, the breakfast is an opportunity to bring people of different faiths together by focusing on unity within the community. The ticketed event is open to the public.
"Although this is an interfaith breakfast, it's my hope that we will fellowship with those who don't profess a faith as well, but love Goldsboro and Wayne County," Simpson-Carter said.
The breakfast is at 9 a.m. at the Goldsboro Event Center, 1501 S. Slocumb St., and tickets are $8 each. Tickets can be purchased at the Community Relations Department, 214 N. Center St. For additional information, the office can be reached at 580-4359 or ssimpson@goldsboronc.gov.
