Woman reports being assaulted by ex-boyfriend

PIKEVILLE -- A 29-year-old Pikeville woman told Wayne County sheriff's deputies her 29-year-old ex-boyfriend "backhanded" her after she got into a car with him to talk about "old issues."
The alleged assault happened Friday night.
The woman said she tried to escape, but that the man kept grabbing and hitting her in the head.
She said she finally managed to escape and hid in some bushes near a residence.
Deputies advised her of the warrant process.
The woman told deputies she had taken out charges on the man on two other occasions, but had them dropped because she is afraid of him.
