Police arrested a second suspect today in the Nov. 21 homicide on Herman Street.
Octavius Thompson, 23, of Elm City, is charged with an open count of murder in the shooting death of 42-year-old Sammy Lamarcus Evans.
Thompson was arrested on the 200 block of East Walnut Street.
Goldsboro police had already made one arrest only a day after the shooting, charging Aijalon Derice Dove, 26, of Goldsboro, with an open count of murder.
Dove is also charged with eight counts of firing into an occupied dwelling and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Dove was arrested at the Econo Lodge at 704 Corporate Drive on Nov. 22.
Police responded to a shots fired call at 109 Herman St. at about 8:42 p.m. and found Evans on the floor at the back door of the house suffering from a gunshot wound.
Evans was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Goldsboro Police Department's VICE Unit, Gang Unit, Crime Scene Unit and Selective Enforcement Unit responded to the scene, as well as the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation.
An investigation into the homicide led to Dove and Thompson being developed as suspects.
The SBI aided Goldsboro police in the investigation.
One of the five panoramic Tsunami cameras was in place outside on a light pole near where the murder happened at 109 N. Herman St.
Thompson is being held without bond in the Wayne County Detention Center, and Dove was given a $810,000 secured bond after being charged.
A press release did not detail how Thompson was developed as a suspect.
The city has seen 10 homicide cases this year compared to 11 in 2016.
