An estimated $12,000 worth of methamphetamine and marijuana were taken off the street in mount Olive Saturday.

The drug seizure comes as the Wayne County Sheriff's Office continues its efforts to investigate drug sales in the southern portion of the county.

Ashley Shackelford, 32, of 251 Daughtery Field Road, is charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the sheriff's office, the arrest was made when the Wayne County ACE Team went to follow up on an investigation into illegal drug sales and narcotics trafficking in the area.

According to a news release, deputies were given permission to search Shakelford's home and once inside they found more than four ounces of meth and an ounce of marijuana.

Shakelford was taken into custody and is being held under a $50,000 secured bond.
