Mount Olive couple to hold Christmas decorating contest benefiting Kitty Askins Hospice

MOUNT OLIVE -- Do you think you are the Clark Griswold of Mount Olive when it comes to decorating your home for Christmas?

If so, you might consider entering a contest where could not only win bragging rights, but a $50 Ribeyes gift card all while helping raise funds for Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Each year the center's advisory board hosts a Mardi Gras fundraiser.

Four couples are competing for the title of king and queen by raising funds for the center.

One of the couples are Bruce and Ashley Walls of Mount Olive who are holding a contest to find the best-decorated house in Mount Olive.

The entry fee is $15, and all proceeds go to Kitty Askins/3HC.

"To enter we need your name, address and telephone number," Ashley Walls said. "You can make payments through PayPal or drop off payment and information at Uni Cut salon in front of Westbrook Park.

"I've already seen some beautifully decorated homes around town."

It is open to anyone with a Mount Olive address.

The winner will be decided by three judges, none of whom will be from Mount Olive.

The winner will receive a yard sign proclaiming best decorated house in Mount Olive.

The deadline to enter is Dec. 20. Houses will be judged and the winner announced on Dec. 22.
