A 49-year-old woman's truck sits upside down after she ran off the road and flipping her vehicle this afternoon.

A 49-year-old woman was flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville with injuries today after running off of Hood Swamp Road near Mark Edwards Road and flipping her truck, which landed upside down.

N.C. State Highway Patrol trooper J.P. Reyes identified the driver as Lois Ann Mahoney, of 1762 Hood Swamp Road.

Mahoney ran off the road just after Mark Edwards Road while heading east on Hood Swamp Road, leaving a trail of tire tracks 351 feet long.

She narrowly missed an "Adopt A Road" sign, driving between the pavement and a soybean field.

Reyes said Mahoney then struck a ditch culvert, overturned and traveled 92 more feet before landing upside down just before 747 Hood Swamp Road.

Reyes said one witness claimed Mahoney was going in excess of 100 mph.

Mahoney's radio continued to play -- at one point, "The Lady in my Life" by Michael Jackson riffed out of the speakers -- while troopers investigated the scene and EMS personnel loaded her onto a helicopter.

A helicopter landed in a field behind Hood Swamp Friends Church, and Wayne County Sheriff's deputies blocked the road at Mark Edwards Road, rerouting traffic.

New Hope Fire Department also responded, and aided EMS personnel in getting Mahoney onto the helicopter that flew her to Greenville.

Reyes said he was going to follow-up on the wreck to determine if alcohol was a factor.
