Troopers say teen charged in wreck drove 90 mph with three minors in car

The N.C. State Highway Patrol charged a teenager with reckless driving after he crashed in the 600 block of Charlie Braswell Road Wednesday night.
Trooper Justin Arnette said 16-year-old Christopher Hayes, of Goldsboro, reached a speed of 90 mph with three juvenile passengers inside before losing control of his 1996 Mercury Sable.
Arnette said Hayes crossed over the center line while heading southeast, and overcorrected to return to his lane. The car then ran off the road, struck a ditch, overturned and landed on its passenger side.
A group of good Samaritans helped flip the car back onto its wheels, and authorities were dispatched to the crash at 8:26 p.m.
Arnette said all four occupants of the car had injuries and were taken to the hospital, but their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
Skid marks leading up to the wreck reached 417 feet in length.
Arnette said there was no evidence of an oncoming car in the lane opposite Hayes, and the wreck was just a result of reckless driving.
